1969 Jaguar E Type Series 2 Roadster 4.2 Manual Tax Exempt

1961 was an amazing year for the Jaguar Motor Company. William Lyons presented the motoring world with quite possibly the nicest, most spectacular looking motor car ever, the Jaguar E Type. The lines of the car coupled with its performance were unbeatable then. Even Enzo Ferrari commented that he thought it was the best looking car in the world! It was originally available as a 2 seater coupe and 2 seater roadster, with a 2+2 Coupe coming a while later.

America was the biggest market for the E Type, and this car has been over the pond, and returned in May 1990. It is I believe only a two owner car. Its first owner living in Brownsville, Kentucky, it appears he had the car from new. It’s sole UK owner purchased the car in 1990 and brought the car back from America to restore for himself. It has been his treasured possession, and the MOT’s confirm that the car was used very little due to it being such a treasured possession. The mileage covered since the car came back to the UK totals a mere 2700 miles only with almost all subsequent MOT’s to prove that it really has had very little use. In fact it appears that the total for the car could possibly be a mere 53000 miles.

The car we offer here is one of the second series of roadsters. It’s finished in a stunning shade of red and is fitted with a gorgeous biscuit leather, chrome wire wheels, and also has a full stainless steel exhaust.

Work done to the car since it’s return includes new sills, new floor sections. The brakes have been fully overhauled. All the work done was by a garage owner who simply wanted his own car beautifully restored for himself.

This is a car that wants for nothing. It is in simply gorgeous condition. Yes, it is an older restoration but it genuinely has that look of a beautifully preserved car, not like something so new and just off the production line it almost looks false. No, this is a beautifully patinated car that simply begs to be driven.

The car was MOT’d last month, March, and it flew through. It will however be MOT’d once more for its new owner for piece of mind, and it has also been taxed from the first of April too, although it is of course tax exempt.

2011 is the 50th Anniversary of this fabulous British Sports Car. Jaguar is not making any more E Types, and there are many for sale at present at all sorts of prices, but if you want a truly genuine car, in good order throughout, then you may struggle to find a better car for only £44,995. Why not make 2011 the year to take the plunge and treat yourself not only to an iconic classic car, but one that will surely make one of the best financial investments the motoring world can offer.
